The party, including a narcoleptic Keithstone being dragged by ropes, joined Brot as they searched the vast cavern for a suitable ship amongst the debris left in the wake of the Aartuks' many years of fine-dining. Noelyn spotted a large ship-shaped object in the distance, and thus began the process of clearing it off and investigating. Dugan made the clearing process go much quicker with his telekinetic movement.
Bolo, Finster, and Noelyn boarded and quickly went below deck to explore while Dugan and Isekaidus explored the main deck and the bridge. Using detect magic, Dugan was able to quickly ascertain the magical essence emanating off the ship's hull, the spelljamming helm, and the strange warforged attached to the meeting table.
After checking out below deck, the 5 boarded party members all meet up in the bridge. Finster investigates the warforged body and determines that it is not dead, simply deactivated. Using some type of magic essence from his own body, he is able to activate the warforged who begins looking around the bridge. Around this time, Keithstone wakes up at an unfamiliar end of the cavern and hears his companions aboard the strange ship, and joins them.
After a short time, the warforged begins regaining some memories including his name, Deefor. He shares that he and the ship are quite old, predating the current governmental system on Rykti. The group converse for awhile, and Finster convinces Deefor to arm himself with a dagger (provided by Finster via a nat20 persuasion roll).
Brot explains the slight change of plans, and promises the group that he'll honor his promise of providing them a ship, but does ask for a favor as well. This favor is to deliver a parcel to a figure of some authority of the monarchy on Oatania, which can be reached in about 8 days of direct travel. The party seems amicable to this request.
Brot leaves to create the parcel, a message of some sort, and in his absence his companion Errheck joins the crew to share knowledge about spelljamming. Between Deefor and Errheck, the party learns about the ship and its abilities/functions, as well as how to best organize themselves as a spelljamming crew. Around this time, Bolo and Isekaidus disembark from the ship to scrounge up ship supplies from the refuse throughout the cavern. Especially thanks to Isekaidus, they gather up all the basics needed to manage the ship during flight and even combat.
Brot returns with a week's supply of food and misc. supplies and encourages the party to pick a new name for the ship before departing, as the original name had been worn away from the hull and Deefor simply couldn't recall what it was. The crew deliberates for awhile and settle on Mister Minnow. Brot carves this into the hull and sends the party off as they lift off and sail into the air under their Helmsman, Dugan Nash.
Before charging up to spelljamming speed, Isekaidus felt his attention drawn to some ships in the distance. Upon closer inspection, it was clear that they ships were in conflict, and one was clearly winning. Keithstone used Mister Minnow's telescope to investigate the ship, and very clearly made out figures familiar both to himself and Isekaidus. The crew change course to pursue the ship and engaged in combat. However, the enemy ship was able to quickly charge their own helm fast enough to blast to spelljamming speed, leaving the the crew to investigate the remaining ship, filled with rope-bound people that seem to be part of the Children of Xiri group that were first encountered down on Rykti.
Dugan stays aboard the minnow while the rest of the party boards the other ship.
